The Peer Support Network

Peer support is a critical component of any wellness program. But support requires those in need to reach out and this is often difficult or counter to the standard thought process for Entrepreneurs. In 2024/25, Sing for Mental Health plans to establish the “Entrepreneur Peer Support Network”.

The network will be comprised of fully trained volunteers (entrepreneurs themselves) who can offer support, guidance, and information to fellow entrepreneurs who are struggling.  Peer support captures the entrepreneurial ethos and spirit – the community coming together to help the community

Did you know that the Mental Health Strategy for Canada promotes peer support as an essential component of the mental health system?

— Mental Health Commission of Canada

“Peer support really works. It helps people feel more empowered and resourceful, which improves lives and cuts costs by reducing the need for formal mental health, medical, and social services.”

Supportive Connections

  • Peer mentors are matched based on similar business experiences and life situations (as applicable). Peers provide guidance and encouragement to fellow entrepreneurs by sharing their experiences and insights. They offer a listening ear, practical mental wellness advice and coping skills, and support to help peers navigate challenges.

Whilst our peers are invaluable and trained in offering support, it is important to remember that they are not mental health professionals. Further, this program does not replace professional mental health counselling or treatment if needed.

Canada Wide

  • This service is offered by telephone, text, or email, and can connect people anywhere in Canada who are seeking connection, support, and community.

Providing Relief

  • Participants of the program can create a special connection with their peer mentor, and be able to relieve some of the stress, worries, and fears that come from working as an entrepreneur, solopreneur, founder, or precarious worker.

By fostering a collaborative and empowering environment, peer mentors play a crucial role in building a resilient entrepreneurial community.

Become a Mentor

  • If you are an entrepreneur, solopreneur, founder, or precarious worker who is interested in becoming a trained peer volunteer and supporting others, we’d love to hear from you. We offer extensive training and ongoing support for all of our volunteers.

Because we are stronger together

The entrepreneurial journey is exhilarating but can also be isolating and stressful. Peer support offers a vital connection, helping entrepreneurs share experiences, reduce stress, improve mental well-being, navigate challenges with empathy and understanding, and foster your resilience. Discover the strength in solidarity and prioritize your well-being on the entrepreneurial path.

Peer support is ‘the process by which like-minded individuals with similar experiences - who have travelled or are travelling the road - encourage and assist each other to continue the healing
